Summary

iMOVE Australia Ltd (iMOVE) was established in 2017 to operate iMOVE Co-Operative Research Centre (iMOVE CRC). iMOVE CRC is a national Australia intelligent transport R&D hub funded through the federal government's CRC Programme for a ten-year period. It has 45 industry, government and research partners. iMOVE undertakes industry-led research that uses emerging technologies to improve Australian transport systems. It will deliver globally relevant solutions to: -reduce congestion, fuel use, emissions and accidents -improve freight co-ordination -improve productivity and international competitiveness -improve lifestyle and well-being This research effort is focused on three areas and will be delivered via three research programs: -RP1: Intelligent Systems and Infrastructure -RP2: Creating End-to-End Freight Solutions -RP3: Enhanced Personal Mobility iMOVE's activities are growing strongly. In the past year we added 15 new projects on top of the previously established nine projects, and four projects were completed. Participant engagement is an important ingredient for CRC success and iMOVE has focused on this aspect from the start. Our participant satisfaction rating coming in at 75% on our most recent survey. Freight has also been the context for one of iMOVE's early successes. We engaged with Deakin University, University of Queensland, University of NSW and the Australian roar Research Board (ARRB) to conduct a study on the needs for, and availability of, freight data for the federal Department of infrastructure, Transport, Cities, and Regional Development. The study was used by the Department to inform the preparation of the National Freight and Supply Chain Strategy, and it also provided an evidence base for them to successfully procure funding in the 2019 budget for the formation of the national Freight Data Hub. Achievements in Research Program: - 15 new projects, taking the total number of projects initiated to 24 - Four projects were completed - Over $9M committed via signed projects agreements to research activity in future periods, bringing total research under contract to approximately $16M - Project portfolio operating software "MOMENTUM" implemented - Freight Data Study for the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Cities and Regional Development led to announcement and allocation of resources to the formation of a National Fright Data Hub - Highly automated vehicles deployed into research efforts in Queensland and New South Wales Achievements in Education Program: - Second year of Undergraduate Program concluded with 47 participating students - Four PhD studies initiated Communications: - Established strong brand - High level of content development for dissemination via newsletters, website and social media - Held inaugural industry-facing "Transport of Tomorrow" symposium.
